From one day to the next, companies switched to ‘remote working’ and ‘remote leadership’ because of the Corona virus, for example. According to experts, it will not stop at this time that parameters in business life can change from now on and from scratch. The question that arises; how do you deal with these changes?

It doesn’t always have to be a pandemic that turns our world upside down. There are many other imponderables that can trigger ‘change’ at very short notice. Be it unpredictable competitive dynamics, the increasing pace in all markets as a result of digitalisation or the change in values in society towards more sustainability. These are all typical triggers for far-reaching changes in companies and in private life.

Change Management – what is it?

Therefore, one of the key competencies of a leader is to successfully implement changes in his or her own team. This makes change management skills indispensable. What is behind the word Change Management? Behind it is the idea of strategically managing a change, as profound as it may be. This is often a very complex undertaking. Change processes are inevitable, but they pay off in the long run.

The module lasts four weeks and covers the following main topics:

  • Causes of change, levels of change, preconditions for change
  • Change curve, emotions and resistance in changes
  • Design of change projects
  • Key tasks of the leader, dealing constructively with emotions and resistance, shaping communication in change processes.

In the course, managers also learn to take a closer look at the typical course of change processes and their phases:

  • Identify and record the need for change
  • Initiation of change and targeted communication with the workforce
  • Planning, implementation and monitoring of the change
  • Completion and follow-up of the change

Since change projects are very challenging, an important part of the module is to teach managers not to overstep their own boundaries and to proceed with caution – because there is a fine line between failure and success.
